Always be Kind to Trolls

Updating some of the old Icelandic stories and legends is such fun!  The ending of this one is so typically Icelandic and fun!

In Hallgedur of Blasfell, the main character Olafur has a run-in with a trollwife.  His courtesy and quick wits saved his life and he made peace with the trollwife.  This is the Icelandic version of "and they lived happily ever after"  ... The end of the story tells  "Olafur’s journey went smoothly from then on.  When he reached his destination, he let the horses go, and they soon disappeared.  But, in the Spring, at the end of the fishing season, they returned, fat and well groomed.  Olafur went back north, and there are no more stores of him."
